Presentation 1 : Chemical Analysis
Mr. Chris Dwyer is the senior Chemistry teacher at Vermont College and also teaches VCE enhancement Chemistry at Monash University. Chris is also an experienced VCE assessor.
- An overview of area of study 1, with particular emphasis on question interpretation and answer presentation as a key component of examination preparation.
- In addition to the content of the area of study, different study techniques will be suggested.
- Probable examination questions and important questions will be discussed.
Presentation 2 : Organic Chemical Pathways
Ms. Julie Plymin is the senior Chemistry teacher at Strathcona BGGS.
- Organic compounds – naming structure and the common reactions associated with different homologous series and their functional groups.
- The production of renewable biochemical fuels.
- Organic chemistry in relation to living systems with emphasis on protein and DNA structure. Their roles in forensic analysis and disease.
- The production of medicines including aspirin.
